Wockenfuss, who the Washington Senators initially selected in the 42nd round of the 1967 MLB Draft, played 10 seasons with the Tigers.
During his decade in Detroit, Wockenfuss, who played catcher, first base, and outfield, batted .261 with 80 home runs and 284 RBIs.
He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the Tigers’ historic 1984 season.
Rest in Peace, John.
