Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has two years remaining on the five year deal he signed with the team, though speculation has been running rampant as to the status of his future in the Motor City.
Don’t count NFL Network analyst and former GM Charley Casserly among those who think that Stafford could depart Detroit.
While speaking on 106.7 The Fan’s Sports Junkies on Friday morning, Casserly said that based on conversations that he’s had, he doesn’t believe the Lions will be looking to part ways with their QB of the past 12 years.
“No, he’s not going to be available,” Casserly said. “Everybody I talked to who went in for that job, they wanted to keep him. Holmes wants to keep him. He’s not going anywhere.”
New Lions GM Brad Holmes stated earlier this morning that Stafford would be evaluated with the rest of the team and that it was too soon to make any major decisions.
