Former Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown lands head coaching gig

According to a report from Jeff Howe of The Athletic, UMass is hiring Don Brown to be their next head coach.

From The Athletic:

Don Brown is returning home. The Arizona defensive coordinator has agreed to a five-year contract to become the next head coach at UMass, according to sources. Brown was previously the UMass head coach from 2004-08 and its defensive coordinator from 1998-99.

Brown, a Massachusetts native, spent this season as defensive coordinator under first-year Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch. Arizona attempted to keep Brown with a two-year contract that would have made him the Pac-12’s highest-paid assistant coach, according to a source.

According to a report, Arizona defensive coordinator Don Brown is the top candidate for a head coaching gig.

Pete Thamel is reporting that Brown, who was once the defensive coordinator at Michigan, has emerged as the top candidate for the head coaching job at UMass, though no official announcement is imminent.

Nation, do you think Don Brown would be successful as a head coach in his second go-around at UMass?
