Former Michigan State Spartans quarterback Rocky Lombardi made the decision to end his tenure in East Lansing earlier this month and enter the transfer portal.
He accumulated 1,090 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions this past season, during which he started Michigan State's first six matchups.
Earlier today, he posted an emotional goodbye message for Spartans fans on his Twitter account:
“As most of you already know, I have decided it is in my best interest to enter the transfer portal,” Lombardi wrote. “Michigan State has been a great home for me the last 4 years of my life. I will forever be in debt to this University for countless friendships and memories that will last me a lifetime. I would like to thank those who have expressed their support and well wishes — even after the news of the transfer.
“I am trying to respond to as many messages as possible. In addition, I would like to thank all of my teammates and coaches who have helped me improve as a player and person in the last 4 years. I will be a life long Spartan and I will always wear the Green and White proudly. That being said, I am looking forward to my next opportunity. This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but I am more than excited for the next two years of my career.”
Thank you for everything Spartan Nation, excited for my next opportunity. Merry Christmas to all! pic.twitter.com/37ERGjhZKw
