As you have certainly heard by now, the Detroit Lions scored on the final play of the game on Sunday to beat the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 23-22 to move to 3-3 on the season.

That final play came with 2 seconds remaining in the game from the 11-yard line. But the big question is, why were the Lions forced to attempt a play from the 11-yard line when WR Kenny Golladay was tackled and the ball was originally spotted at the 8-yard line?
This is a question we asked last night and we even reached out to the NFL for comment but we have not gotten a response.
Though we may never get a response as to what exactly happened, we do have a response from former NFL referee, Mike Pereira.
As you can see below, Pereira is as baffled as we are as to why the ball was moved back three yards before the final play of the game.
I have no explanation. The replay official did everything right but that. The back should have been at the 8.
