My Cause My Cleats is an NFL initiative where players are able to display causes that are close to their hearts with custom pairs of cleats.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford revealed the personalized pair he would have worn had he been available to play last week. And another player with a local connection is also getting in on the fun.
New England Patriots defensive end Chase Winovich suited up for the Michigan Wolverines for four years, and during that time he became close with a teenager named Larry Prout. He had been diagnosed with spina bifida and has had more than 100 surgeries.
Winovich's cleats will honor his young friend:

“His friendship has meant a lot to me. It’s provided a lot of inspiration for myself and I hope have reciprocated those feelings back to him. He’s just an awesome guy. He’s so brave. His family is so amazing, their dedication,” Winovich said
Well done, Chase!
