The Michigan Wolverines were absolutely dominant in their opening week win against the Hawaii Warriors. Michigan blew out Hawaii by a score of 63-3. Wilson Speight was named starting quarterback just before game time and after an opening interception, he did not disappoint. Speight finished the day an efficient 10/13 for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. Among the many contributors on offense in Week 1 was Chris Evans. The freshman running back burned his redshirt on 8 carries, 112 yards, and 2 touchdowns. On defense, Mike McCray was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his performance of 9 tackles and 2 sacks. The Wolverines moved up to #5 in the AP College Football poll and deservedly so. This is the first meeting between the two schools.
THE OPPONENT:
The Knights are 1-0 after a 38-0 victory over South Carolina State in Week 1. The team and fan base is riding high on the performance of the team under the direction of Scott Frost. Formerly the offensive coordinator at Oregon last year, Frost has installed a fast paced spread offense that looks to win games by scoring buckets of points. Quarterback Justin Holman will look to test Michigan’s defense as a mobile dual threat signal caller.
