Matt Boyd (2-2, 3.78 ERA) was spectacular tonight, going eight strong innings, surrendering only three runs in the fourth inning. Other than that one inning, he was nearly untouchable. However, he was matched pitch for pitch by Cleveland starter Carlos Carasco. Carasco only needed to go six innings with the formidable back-end of the Indians bullpen, Andrew Miller and Cody Allen, able to handle the final three innings.
The Tigers did all they could in the final inning, getting guys on first and second base with only two outs. Mikie Mahtook had a great at-bat against Allen, taking him deep into the count before flying out to right field. Allen then shut the door on a called third strike against Jim Aducci. The Tigers are now 3-3 in games where their starting pitcher goes seven or more innings.
The #Tigers are now 3-3 when a starter goes 7+ IP.

Ian Kinsler did leave the game with hamstring tightness in the middle frames. No update has been given on his situation yet.
Tomorrow the Tigers wrap up this four-game series looking for their second consecutive series win against the Indians. Already this season, they have gotten the monkey off their back against the Tribe, and they’ll look to continue that tomorrow. They send Michael Fulmer (2-1, 3.19 ERA) to the bump to face Danny Salazar (2-2, 4.34 ERA). Action begins at 1:10 EST with coverage on Fox Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket.
