The Detroit Red Wings announced that Dylan Larkin would become the team’s 37th captain in franchise history this morning, marking the 1st time that a Michigan-born player wears the “C” on his jersey.
And one of the most iconic symbols of the city of Detroit was sure to commemorate the occasion.
The colored LED lightning system and screen atop the GM Renaissance Center had a special display once the news was announced:
