At least, that is how Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay felt during practice when wide receiver Golden Tate fell on his shoulder and neck area. Slay was down for a couple of minutes in what seemed like a stinger and was helped off the field and inside the teams facility. Later, Slay was found clowning around on the sidelines with Rashean Mathis, if it was a real serious injury, I would give Slay an Academy Award.
Darius was asked about the potential injury scare. “It wasn’t nothing. Just playing ball. I’m good.” Said he plans to practice tomorrow.” Slay stated. Coach Jim Caldwell was also asked about it during his press interview after practice came to an end. “Slay had a little neck issue. No big deal. He told Slay that Tate can be a pain in neck sometimes.” It was a nice bit of comic relief over what could have been something extremely serious and put the Lions in a very tough spot by losing Slay for any amount of time.
Caldwell and Slay both assured that he will be in full participation at tomorrows practice.
