Golden Tate‘s days in the NFL may or may not be finished but that does not mean the former Detroit Lions wide receiver is done with professional sports.
On Tuesday, news broke that Tate had signed to play with the Port Angeles Lefties of the West Coast Baseball league and just a few hours later, he made his professional baseball debut.
“I am extremely thankful to the West Coast League and the Port Angeles Lefties for allowing me to join their league,” Tate said in a statement released on Tuesday. “As some might know, I was drafted twice in baseball. As a child, my first love was baseball, so I’m excited about the opportunity to compete against some of the best young players in the league. I look forward to having a lot of fun and exploring baseball more.”
In fact, Tate got the start in centerfield for the Lefties and he certainly made the most of it.
