Gordie Howe doing well after second stem cell treatment

After suffering a major stroke in October, Gordie Howe’s family was preparing for the worst circumstances when it was decided that he would undergo stem cell treatment. After his first treatment, his condition improved significantly, which allowed him to appear at a tribute dinner in his hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in February.

He has now undergone his second treatment and his condition continues to improve. He is said to be comfortable and happy and has even been joining his son Murray for walks.

“Our dad continues to participate in a clinical trial where stem cells are being used in the treatment of a stroke,” said Murray Howe, a radiologist in Toledo. “We’d like to wait until the first phase of that clinical trial is complete before providing any more updates.”

“At this time, our dad is comfortable and happy. That remains our goal. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support for Mr. Hockey.” – Murray Howe
