Grand Rapids Griffins Advance to AHL Conference Finals

It’s been a terrific postseason, thus far, for the Grand Rapids Griffins as the American Hockey League side has advanced to the Western Conference Finals. Their opponents will be the San Jose Barracuda who defeated the San Diego Gulls in the second round.

The Griffins have advanced to the conference finals with series victories over the Milwaukee Admirals and Chicago Wolves. Their second round win over the Wolves only took five games as the Griffins tallied an impressive 22 goals in the five-game series. The series was initially tied after the first two games, but the Griffins pulled away and won the last three.

It was the opposite of the first round where the Griffins needed three overtime wins to get past the Admirals.

The Barracuda has defeated the Griffins both times the two teams met in the regular season.
