Happy 30th Birthday Zimm!

Signed by the Tigers in the off-season to a 5-year, $110 million dollar contract, Jordan Zimmermann has certainly lived up to the expectations.

Zimmermann was the American League’s Pitcher of the Month in the month of April. He had a 5-0 record, only allowed 2 earned runs in 33 innings and had a staggering 0.55 ERA.

It was the third best ERA in the month of April by a Tiger pitcher in the franchise’s history.

Now, on his 30th birthday, Zimmermann holds a career record of 77-52, with an ERA of 3.27. His 2.52 ERA this season is currently the best of his 8 year Major League career.

During yesterday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Zimmermann exited the game with an apparent groin injury. Let’s hope he’s ok and only misses a start or two.

Let’s take a look back at when Zimermann first signed with the Tigers and talked about what he looked forward to this season:
