Harbaugh puts nation on notice with stellar NSD, notches Top 5 recruiting class

Scroll to the bottom for entire 2016 recruiting class

Whether you love, hate, envy, or are just plain sick of him, you can’t argue with the results Jim Harbaugh has produced on the recruiting trail. From sleepovers to prom proposals, Harbaugh has dabbed his way into recruits’ hearts, climbing up the class rankings along the way.

Harbaugh’s creative approach paid big dividends on National Signing Day as a slew of blue chip prospects sent their letters of intent to the University of Michigan, cementing a top five finish for Harbaugh’s first full class.

Headlined by the consensus number one recruit in the nation, Rashan Gary, today’s haul (listed below), tops off a fantastic recruiting class.

Rashan Gary

Five-star defensive tackle and top-ranked prospect in the country, Gary is an absolute force anywhere on the defensive line.

Coveted by every school in the country, Michigan had to fend off a late but strong push from Clemson to secure his services. The cornerstone of Michigan’s loaded class, Gary should see the field early and often helping the defense pick up where it left off. This massive win on the recruiting trail certainly bodes well for the future.

Lavert Hill

The four-star cornerback spurned in-state rival MSU to join big brother Delano Hill and close friend Jourdan Lewis in Ann Arbor.

A one-time Penn State commit, Hill narrowed his list to the three schools before following fellow four-star cornerback David Long to Michigan.

With two elite cornerbacks on the way to reinforce an already dominant secondary, Ann Arbor is quickly building their own no-fly zone.

Devin Asiasi

Michigan again proved it can go into California and steal top talent, this time taking a top 75 prospect and third ranked tight end in Devin Asiasi.

The allure of staying close to home at USC or UCLA wasn’t strong enough to keep the four-star in-state, as Asiasi elected to join Jim Harbaugh’s tight end friendly offense instead. At 6’3″ and 270 pounds, Asiasi is the most field-ready tight end in the class.

Quinn Nordin

The most decorated kicker in the nation ended his up and down recruiting adventure by staying in state with Michigan.

Another former Penn State commit, Nordin received late pushes from USC and Baylor but ultimately chose to don the maize and blue winged helmet, solidifying sleepovers as a legitimate recruiting tactic. Possessing elite leg strength and fine mechanics, Nordin should solidify the kicking game when Kenny Allen moves on after next season.

With Nate Johnson and Michael Onwenu both reaffirming their commitments to Michigan in the last 24 hours, Jim Harbaugh polished off a brilliant finish during the last major week of recruiting.

Here’s Harbaugh’s prized 2016 recruiting class in its entirety.
