Harold Castro says Detroit Tigers ‘came to play hard’

They call him Hittin’ Harold, and for good reason.

He came through in the clutch once again for the Detroit Tigers Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays in the 10th inning, smacking the go-ahead RBI single that proved to be the game-winner at Rogers Centre. Not only that, but it was his first plate appearance of the evening.

In doing so, the Tigers got themselves back into the win column following a four game losing skid.

“Every day is different,” said Castro afterwards. “You have to be able to push that bad day away and come here and play hard,” he said. “That’s what we did. We pushed away (Thursday), we know we had a hard day, but that happens sometimes. We came here to play hard tonight and win a game.”

The Venezuelan utility man has picked up 24 RBI in 75 appearances with the Tigers in 2021.
