Herman Moore gives a lukewarm assessment of Dan Campbell

As one of the top players in team history, former Detroit Lions wide receiver Herman Moore endeared himself to fans in the Motor City during his 11 seasons donning the Honolulu Blue.

How does Herman Moore feel about the current Lions?

And he remains as passionate as ever about the current edition of the Lions, who weren't in action this afternoon thanks to this being their bye week. However, they're still on the heels of an embarrassing 29-0 shutout loss to former head coach Matt Patricia and the rest of the New England Patriots last week, dropping them to a paltry 1-4 record so far in 2022.

One of the key factors in Detroit's four losses is their poor defensive showing, leading to speculation that head coach Dan Campbell could elect to make a move to demote current defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in a similar fashion to what he did last season to ex-OC Anthony Lynn.

Herman Moore's review of Detroit's coaching staff was less than stellar

While speaking on the Lions Nation Unite podcast, Moore discussed what he feels is a poor showing in terms of body language and lack of resilience on the Detroit sideline, and that it starts with the coaching staff.

“I'll start with the coaching side of it,” he said. “When you really look at it and they pan the sidelines, many of us aren't paying attention to the body languknage and things that are happening. There seems to be a fire that's been put out. I don't know if confidence has been lost, but there isn't the resiliance that I thought we'd see that would come across. This is a young team looking for a qualified coaching staff to reel them in as players and give them that hope and confidence or the way out of the spin they're in. I don't know if the players are receiving that or aren't prepared for it, because we've seen this team start to go in the opposite direction that we expected given how strong they started. There is something that needs to happen here.”

Coach Dan Campbell is going to talk to his team and bring everyone in like any other organization and ask what needs to be done to fix this, not only in the unit but the team. The only thing is that your decisions have to be defended. If you remove responsibility, you remove it. I don't see where that if you don't make a move, what are the consequences? This is a precarious situation for this team right now.”

The Lions will be back in action next weekend at AT&T Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys.
