He signed a four-year contract extension worth a reported $39 million per season, making him the NFL's second highest paid quarterback, behind only that of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.
With Watson under center for the Texans, he's led his team to back-to-back AFC South titles.
Meanwhile, there was a time when Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford‘s contract had him at the top of the list for highest paid NFL players at $27 million per season.
