How a trade by Bob Quinn will likely cost the Detroit Lions in the 2022 NFL Draft

According to most projections, the Detroit Lions are going to struggle to win very many games in 2021. In fact, many are projecting the Lions to end up with one of the top picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

If the Lions end up with say, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, that would also mean they will get the second pick in the 7th round, right? Well, not necessarily.

You see, prior to the start of the 2019 season, former Lions GM Bob Quinn made a trade with the Cleveland Browns for QB David Blough. In exchange for Blough, the Lions agreed to swap 7th round picks with the Browns in 2022 if the Lions pick ends up being higher.

Well, fast forward to the present, and the Lions are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL while the Browns are predicted to be a top 10 team in the league and possibly even better than that.

So, let's say the Lions end up with the No. 2 pick and the Browns end up with the No. 25 pick, the Browns would then decide to swap picks with the Lions. Doing so, in that situation, would cost the Lions 23 spots in the 7th round.

Yep, Bob Quinn is still screwing us!
