On Saturday, the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines went into the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio, and they dominated the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes on their way to a 45-23 win. With the win, the Wolverines advance to the Big Ten Championship Game, while the Buckeyes will have to watch from home and hope that they can still find their way in to the College Football Playoff. Believe it or not, there is scenario where the Wolverines and Buckeyes could have a rematch in the in the College Football Playoff.
How can Michigan and Ohio State play again in the College Football Playoff?
Despite getting smacked in the face on their home field, the Buckeyes could still back their way into the College Football Playoff if the cards fall in their favor this coming Saturday.
The College Football Playoff rankings will be released at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and the top of the rankings will probably be as follows:
- Georgia
- Michigan
- TCU
- USC
- Ohio State
- Alabama
Each of the Top 4 teams will play in their conference championship games this coming Saturday, and though I believe Georgia and UM will both get into the College Football Playoff even if they lose, the same cannot be said about TCU and USC.
If either TCU (vs. Kansas State) or USC (vs. Utah) lose in their conference championship game, I have to believe OSU would squeeze into the CFP as the No. 4 seed, which would mean they would play Georgia in the CFP semifinals.
But, if both TCU and USC lose (very possible), Ohio State would likely be the No. 3 seed and they would get a rematch with the Wolverines (assuming they beat Purdue) in the Semifinals, while Alabama would have a shot to move up to No. 4.
Nation, would you like to see a rematch between the Wolverines and Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff semifinals?
