I ‘BEVELLieve’ the Detroit Lions will make the Playoffs without winning out

Ladies and gentlemen, after all the Detroit Lions have been through in 2020, including firing their head coach and general manager, they are playing meaningful games in December!

Wait, what? You don't believe me? Let me explain.

First of all, there have been plenty of people write about how the Lions will have to win (4 games left) out to make the playoffs but that is not factually correct and I am not just talking about a fantasy land where all of the teams in front of them lose every game and the Lions back their way in. I am talking about a (semi) realistic situation where the Lions go 3-1 to finish out the season with an 8-8 record, which will be good enough to earn then the No. 7 seed in the NFC.

So, how did I come to this conclusion? Well, my first step was to chug enough Honolulu blue Kool-Aid to convince myself that the Lions will finish 3-1 against the Packers, Titans, Buccaneers, and Vikings. (Note: I had to drink quite a bit but the more I drank, the better it tasted!) In case you are wondering, I have the Lions beating the Packers, Bucs, and Vikings while losing on the road to the Titans.

My second step was to head to the ESPN Playoff Machine and start picking realistic winners for each remaining week of the season starting with Week 14.  Here are the results.

*Highlighted teams are the teams I believe will win.

So, what I want you to notice is that I did not pick any crazy upsets (other than the Lions going 3-1, which could crazy!)

With the above results, the Lions would finish 8-8 and as you will see in the image below, that would be enough for them to earn a playoff spot and a matchup against the No. 2 seeded Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round.

Nation, have I lost my mind here, or do you BEVELLieve?
