It could soon be an end of an era in the Motor City, as reports indicate that the Detroit Lions and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford could be parting ways after 12 seasons.
Stafford’s impending departure is just the latest in a series of changes for the Lions in the past several months that include a new head coach, general manager, and offensive/defensive coordinators.
But could Stafford have stayed in the Motor City? According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, there is.
Earlier today, Rapoport stated his belief that Stafford could have stayed in Detroit had the team made the decision to retain former offensive coordinator/interim head coach Darrell Bevell, who is expected to join Urban Meyer‘s staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Had the Lions retained Darrell Bevell, from what I understand, I do not believe Stafford would have wanted to ask out – I believe he would have wanted to stay there,” Rapoport stated.
