Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a rib injury during Sunday's loss against the Green Bay Packers, and was held off the practice field Wednesday.
While his status for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans remains unclear, Stafford refuses to count himself out.
“I really have no expectation at the moment to be honest, just taking it day by day and trying to see if I can get it to feel a little bit better,” he explained during team media sessions this afternoon.
“Sunday I did not feel good,” he continued. “Just wasn't able to function, I was kind of spasming and locking up, I just wasn't able to throw. I obviously don't like coming off the field, but I've been doing everything I can to make it feel better.”
“I'll not count myself out, and see how it progresses through the week.”
Asked about wearing additional protective piece of equipment, Stafford smiled.
“I don't know, maybe tape a pillow to my ribs,” he joked.
The Lions will take on the Titans Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.
