Late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions rookie tight end T.J. Hockenson was forced to leave after taking a big hit on what ended up being an incomplete pass.
According to reports, Hockenson was forced to leave the game so he could be checked for a concussion.
On Monday, Lions head coach Matt Patricia spoke to the media and said that Hockenson does not have a concussion and that he just had the wind knocked out of him.
Lions coach Matt Patricia said in a conference call just now that T.J. Hockenson got hit in the middle of the back and just had the wind taken out of him, checked out normal. Sore but not in concussion protocol.

This is great news as it would have been Hockenson’s second brain injury of his rookie campaign.
