Many thought Bally Sports Detroit would fire Detroit Tigers color commentator Jack Morris during the 2022 season after he used what some perceived to be a racist accent while commenting on Los Angeles Angels superstar, Shohei Ohtani. At that time, Morris was suspended for three weeks before being allowed to return to the booth. Now, according to a report from Chris McCosky of the Detroit News, BSD has made a decision on Morris.
Jack Morris will not return to Bally Sports Detroit in 2023
According to the Detroit News, Morris will not be returning to the Bally Sports Detroit booth in 2023.
From Detroit News:
Morris, 67, had been part of the Tigers’ TV booth since 2019, rotating in the analyst chair with former Tigers Kirk Gibson, Dan Petry and Craig Monroe. According to sources, Monroe, who had been used mostly in pre- and postgame segments, will take over Morris’ workload in the analyst chair alongside play-by-play announcer Matt Shepard.
McCosky added that Bally Sports Detroit, the Detroit Tigers, nor Morris have confirmed this report.
Nation, would you be glad to hear more Craig Monroe and less Morris in 2023?
