JaCoby Jones struck by fastball; exits game

In an unfortunate incident today, Detroit Tigers center fielder JaCoby Jones was drilled by a pitch. The accident happened in the third inning while Jones was facing Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Justin Haley.

After being hit, Jones dropped, rolled, and ran towards the dugout. He was immediately attended to by team trainers and medical personnel. JaCoby was replaced by Andrew Romine in the game.

It appears that the pitch that hit Jones was accidentally thrown up and in. No immediate retaliation by Detroit players. Also, there is no update on Jones’ condition at the moment.

The Tigers had high hopes for Jones in the outfield this season. He is batting .154 with 1 home run and 4 RBI in 15 games so far in 2017.
