Jakub Vrana can help boost the Red Wings' offense
The return of Vrana will help boost the Wings' offense, which has been struggling of late, leading to a bit of a drought in the standings. Vrana has been out for the last two months, having entered the NHL's Player Assistance program which provides access to a confidential phone line and counselors in each city in the league.
He returned to practice on December 16 and has been getting some skating in, now he'll head to Grand Rapids to get some games under his belt before returning to the active roster. He's been staying in shape during his absence, noting to reporters, “I've been trying to stay in shape as much as I could…I felt really good out on the ice. Now, it's just a matter of time.”
Vrana was acquired in a trade from the Washington Capitals. He has played in two games this season, scoring a goal and notching an assist. His presence in the lineup will be a welcomed sight for fans and those in the organization and should come pretty soon.
