It was unquestionably a disappointing 2015 campaign for the Detroit Tigers.
But not everything was all bad. Tigers rookie catcher James McCann got to showcase his talents, albeit as a result of injuries plaguing Alex Avila throughout the season. Still, McCann undoubtedly took over the starting catcher role for years to come, showing great upside.
McCann was a guest on MLB Network’s offseason morning show ‘Hot Stove’ on Tuesday, hosted by Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds. Among the topics they inquired James about was his recent visit to the Dominican Republic with teammates Kyle Lobstein and Anthony Gose, having a former catcher as a skipper, and transitioning from the west coast to the deep south for college life.
