The Detroit Lions pulled the trigger on a franchise altering pair of moves on Saturday, presenting maligned head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn with their walking papers.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t won enough over the last three seasons,” team owner Sheila Ford-Hamp said in her statement following the announcement of the decision.
For linebacker Jamie Collins, the news came as a surprise and a disappointment.
“I felt it. .. I had him quite a while,” he said. “It’s tough, man. Anybody gets fired, gets out of this building, it’s tough on all of us.”
Collins signed with Detroit this past March after having played for Patricia with the New England Patriots, so it’s naturally understandable for him to be taking the change in personnel a bit harder than other players.
But regardless, he and the team know they have to move on.
“It’s already hard as it is but, just situations like that, man, we got to use it to the best of our ability to motivate us,” he said.
