Jared Goff does not think Detroit Lions need to prove themselves to the fans

After winning six out of seven games to move to 7-7 on the season, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions had a chance to grab control of their own destiny in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, the Panthers also had something to play for and they absolutely destroyed the Lions by a score of 37-23. On Wednesday, Goff was asked by a reporter if he felt like the Lions needed to prove themselves to their fans.

What did Jared Goff say about the Detroit Lions having to prove themselves to their fans?

When asked if he believes the Lions have to prove themselves again to the fans following their debacle against the Panthers, Goff had the following to say.

“No, we had a tough game,” said Goff. “We didn’t play well. We lost, they played better than us, and it’s the National Football League. That’s going to happen. Now, that doesn’t mean we don’t go back and look at it and see what we need to get better at and fix and improve and get coached on it and hold ourselves accountable, but we know every game’s tough, and we’ve won six of eight, and need to find a way to win eight of 10, and feel good about it.”

Goff and the Lions will have a shot to right the ship a bit on Sunday when they host the Chicago Bears at Ford Field.

With a win, the Lions would move to 8-8 on the season, and their playoff hopes would still be alive. In fact, if the Lions win and a couple of other things go right for them in Week 17, they could control their own destiny heading into the final week of the regular season.

Nation, what is your score prediction for Sunday’s game between the Lions and Bears?
