Jared Goff skyrockets in final NFL QB rankings

Heading into the 2022 season, there were quite a few people who believed Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff would fall flat on his face, and that he would be shipped out of town before the 2023 season began. Well, to put it nicely, those people were VERY wrong as Goff had what was arguably the best (at least the second-best) season of his career.

Where does Jared Goff land in the NFL QB Rankings?

Jared Goff

Heading into the season, pretty much everywhere you looked, Goff was ranked in the 20s when it came to NFL QB rankings, which made me chuckle at the time. In fact, Marc Sessler of NFL.com had Goff at No. 21 when the season began.

On Thursday, Sessler released his final NFL QB rankings for 2022 and Goff comes in at No. 8.

Here is what Sessler has to say about Goff: (Via NFL.com)

Previously viewed as a milquetoast fill-in, Goff's perception-changing campaign saw him light up the enemy for 29 touchdowns and nearly 4,500 yards — against just seven picks. He'll miss his share of throws, but most Sundays showed off a passer who avoided big mistakes and refused to shy away from aggressive shots downfield. Goff looked the part inside an offense that finished fifth in DVOA, third in total yards, and fifth in points. His minuscule interception percentage (1.2%) was powered by a nine-game stretch run that saw him fling 15 touchdowns and zero picks. Don't expect the Lions to toss him aside.

Folks, Goff is not going anywhere anytime soon, and it would not surprise me at all if he ends up signing an extension in the not-too-distant future.
