The last Detroit Lions cornerback to win Defensive Rookie of the Year was Lem Barney back in 1967. Could that change this season?
Cornerback and 1st round 2020 Draft pick Jeff Okudah is included in the CBS list of 2020 NFL Defensive Player of the Year contenders.
Check out their reasoning:
“The Ohio State product has large, vocal shoes to fill in the absence of Darius Slay. Okudah was impressive in Columbus because of his willingness to provide support in the run game. His ball skills and strength in man coverage make him an ideal cornerback for Matt Patricia. Production is the intersection of talent and opportunity. Okudah oozes talent and is being given a large opportunity.”
Okudah is currently +2000 on the William Hill sports book money line odds to win that honor.
His other competitors for the honor? Chase Young, Isaiah Simmons, C.J. Henderson, and Kenneth Murray.
