On Saturday night, Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan Wolverines marched into Rutgers as a double-digit favorite but proceeded to look like they were the underdog for roughly a quarter and a half. That is until Harbaugh FINALLY decided to pull the plug on Joe Milton and replace him with Cade McNamara.

McNamara immediately turned things around for the Wolverines offense as he led them back from a double-digit deficit to take a second-half lead over the Scarlet Knights.
When all was said and done, it took Michigan three overtimes to beat Rutgers and though a win is a win, this one sure feels a lot like a loss to many Wolverines’ faithful.
Now, most head coaches who just saw their team nearly lose to a perennial doormat of the conference would not be too thrilled after the game. But while speaking to the media following the 3 OT win, Harbaugh did not seem upset at all. In fact, it sounded more like a coach would sound if his team was the underdog heading into the game.

Here are some of Harbaugh’s postgame comments, via Isaiah Hole of Wolverines Wire:
-“It was very inspiring. I was very inspired the way our players played. And our coaches, too.”
-Harbaugh on the defense: “Came up with a stop when we needed it.” Notes: “I thought Adam Shibley came in and played really well.” Said he does a good job not overrunning the play. “I thought Don did a great job making the calls” vs. bubble screens “when they were hurting us.” “Just battled — really gritty.”
