We have seen it time and time again when an NFL team goes from worst to first in their division but it is not too often that we see a team go from worst in their division to a Super Bowl.
That is exactly what the San Francisco 49ers have accomplished this season after going just 4-12 in 2018.
During that 2018 season, the 49ers lost starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL in their third game and it was all downhill from there.

Similar to the 49ers of 2018, the 2019 Detroit Lions lost Matthew Stafford for the final 8 games of the season. The Lions went 0-8 without Stafford and finished with a 3-12-1 record.
So, the question is, can the Lions replicate what the 49ers did an make a big jump of their in 2020?
Well, one person who is drawing comparisons between the 49ers and Lions is Senior Bowl director, Jim Nagy.

On Monday, Nagy stopped short of making a bold prediction that the Lions would go from worst to the Super Bowl, but he clearly thinks Lions GM Bob Quinn has built a roster capable of turning things around, if healthy.
“I’m not saying Detroit’s going to have home-field advantage (throughout) the playoffs next year and be in the Super Bowl,” said Nagy, who is the executive director of the Senior Bowl. “But there are some parallels to San Francisco losing Jimmy G. and ending up here, and Detroit losing (Matthew) Stafford. I mean, I think that’s a pretty good roster that Bob (Quinn) and Matt have put together up there. But you get decimated, you get decimated.”
