We are now less than a month away from the start of the 2020 NFL Draft and around these parts, we are focused on what the Detroit Lions will do when they are on the clock with the No. 3 pick. Will they trade back to the highest bidder to acquire more draft capital? Are they almost forced to take CB Jeff Okudah after trading Pro Bowl CB Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles? Could they select their next franchise QB by drafting Tua Tagovailoa?
Time will tell but for now, we can just continue to look at (and create mock draft scenarios) and speculate as to what the Lions will or will not do.
According to radio host, Mike Valenti of 97.1 The Ticket, when the Lions are on the clock Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow will still be available and Bob Quinn should pull the trigger and select him.
“The league is about quarterbacks and I, unlike Bob Quinn, I am a man of principle. At No. 3, I am getting one of the top three players in this draft. Joe Burrow gives me the ability to setup this franchise for the next 10 years. Unleash myself, unchain myself from Matthew Stafford if I so choose as soon this upcoming offseason — and I still get to win in the short term with Matthew Stafford as my starter. If the season goes off the rails, go get ’em Joe Joe becomes my starter.”
Valenti believes the Cincinnati Bengals will take QB Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 1 overall pick followed by the Washington Redskins taking EDGE Chase Young.
Here is how Valenti believes the Top 10 will play out.
No. 1 (CIN) QB Tua Tagovailoa
No. 2 (WAS) EDGE Chase Young
No. 3 (DET) QB Joe Burrow
No. 4 (NYG): OT Tristan Wirfs
No. 5 (MIA): QB Jordan Love
No. 6 (LAC): QB Justin Herbert
No. 7 (Car) LB Isaiah Simmons
No. 8 (Ari) OT Mekhi Becton
No. 9 (JAX) CB Jeff Okudah
No. 10 (CLE) OT Andrew Thomas
Personally, I believe Burrow is a lock to go to the Bengals at No. 1 so Valenti’s mock would be blown up immediately.
Nation, do you agree with Mike Valenti that Joe Burrow will fall to the Lions at No. 3? If he does, will Bob Quinn select him?
