Detroit Pistons forward Jon Leuer left Detroit’s game against Portland on Sunday night due to a right knee injury and will not be available for Detroit’s matchup tonight in Sacramento, and possibly beyond that.
An initial diagnoses revealed the injury wasn’t serious in nature, but the team is still awaiting the results from an MRI.
“Obviously, we’re concerned. We don’t think it’s any major problem but he’s got some fluid in there,” coach Stan Van Gundy reported after shootaround on Tuesday morning. “(Team physician) Dr. (Stephen) Lemos will look at the MRI today and then we’ll get a better idea of where we’re headed. From a comfort standpoint, he’s not able to go tonight.”
“Somewhere in these next couple games — I’m anticipating Jon out for a couple games — Henry (Ellenson) will probably get a shot,” Van Gundy said.
Since coming off the bench, Leuer has started the last eight games and has averaged 9.5 points and 5.1 rebounds. Tobias Harris will return to Detroit’s starting five in Leuer’s absence.
