Jose Iglesias officially activated from DL, Alex Presley designated for assignment

The short rehab assignment for Jose Iglesias has officially come to an end and he is ready to join the Tigers on the field once again. It was reported yesterday that Iglesias is back in Detroit, and he will see action tonight in the Tigers game against the Los Angeles Angels.

As of this afternoon, the Tigers have officially activated Iglesias from the DL and designated Alex Presley for assignment. Iglesias will be batting ninth in the lineup against Los Angeles tonight and starting at shortstop

Eric Aybar has been filling in for the injured Iglesias after coming to Detroit through a trade with the Atlanta Braves. In eight games for the Tigers, Aybar is hitting .233 with 1 HR and 2 RBI.

Even with Iglesias coming back, manager Brad Ausms has said that he would consider playing both Iglesias and Aybar at shortstop and possibly even third base. We will update with a corresponding roster move once one is announced.
