According to Joe Tipton, freshman combo guard Joseph Hartman has confirmed he will remain with the Wolverines despite the departure of national championship-winning head coach Dusty May, who recently accepted the head coaching job with the Dallas Mavericks.
Tipton reported that Hartman is staying at Michigan, providing another key retention victory for interim head coach Mike Boynton Jr.

Hartman arrived in Ann Arbor as one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
The versatile combo guard was rated as a four-star recruit and a top-100 overall prospect, making him one of the premier additions to Michigan’s incoming class.
