Rich Gannon thinks Matthew Stafford is an overpaid loser

Let’s face it, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is a lightning rod. Some believe he is an elite quarterback in the NFL while others believe he is to blame for the Lions inability to get over the hump.

One former NFL signal-caller who is not a big fan of Stafford is CBS Sports Network analyst Rich Gannon.

On Monday, Gannon said he is “sick and tired of talking about Matthew Stafford” and he claimed Stafford is one of the main reasons why the Lions are currently in last place in the NFC North.

From the Detroit Free Press:

“The guy is overpaid,” Gannon said. “He’s been one of the highest-paid quarterbacks over the last four or five years and he’s a stat king. He picks up a lot of yards and production in garbage time.”

Prior to last season, Stafford signed a 5-year, $135 million contract, which made him the highest paid player in NFL history at the time. That contract has since been surpassed by Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Gannon had a career passer rating of 84.7, Stafford currently sits at 88.7.

What do you think, Nation? Does Rich Gannon have a point or has he completely lost his mind?
