Despite their heartbreaking loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, the Detroit Lions should be walking around with pride after starting off the season with a 2-1 record.
One of the main reasons for the Lions success is their kicker, Matt Prater.
On Thursday, Prater was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for his lights out performance through three games.

So far in 2017, Prater is a perfect 6-for-6 in field goal attempts, including 4-for-4 from 50 yards or more.
Prater joins former Lions receiver Calvin Johnson as the only player to win a Player of the Month award in consecutive seasons. Johnson accomplished the feat in 2012 and then again in 2013.
