According to a report from Field Yates, Detroit Lions punter Sam Martin will be taking a pay cut.
Yates is reporting that Martin had his contract reworked, dropping his non-guaranteed base salary in 2019 from $2.4 million to a guaranteed $1.7 million, while 2020 is now a voidable year of his deal.

Martin is going into his 7th season with the Lions. In his first six seasons in Detroit, he has averaged 46.1 yards per punt, though that number has dropped over the past two seasons.
This move is a bit odd considering Martin is a lock to make the roster. I really don’t understand why he would accept a pay cut.
