Just about everything that could have went wrong for Michigan State on Saturday did go wrong. The Spartans turned in by far their worst performance, not only of this season but perhaps ever in the Mark Dantonio era.

The 48-3 shellacking at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes was the largest margin of defeat for any Dantonio-led MSU team. Now the Spartans return home for the final game at Spartan Stadium this season. And the game time for that contest was just recently announced early on Sunday.

Michigan State (7-3, 5-2 Big Ten) will welcome Maryland (4-6, 2-5 Big Ten) next Saturday. The Terrapins were just handed a 35-10 beatdown at home at the hands of Michigan on Saturday. The injury-riddled Terps are down to their fourth-string quarterback with just two games remaining to get to bowl eligibility.

No word yet on what the line and over/under mark will be for this affair. Michigan State will surely be looking for revenge in this one. Maryland handed the Spartans one of their nine defeats a year ago, a 28-17 victory in favor of the Terrapins. The two teams were tied at 14 going into the break, but the Spartan offense was shut down entirely in the second half.

Quarterback Brian Lewerke got the starting nod for MSU in last season’s meeting. He went 11/24 for 156 yards and one interception. Lewerke, however, did add 79 yards on the ground on 10 official carries. Tailbacks LJ Scott and Gerald Holmes were each responsible for one Spartan touchdown as the tandem combined for 187 yards on 33 totes.

Michigan State is 2-1 against Maryland since the Terrapins joined the Big Ten at the beginning of the 2014 season.
