Don’t look now, but a familiar face wants to make a return to football and there’s a chance he could be targeted by the Detroit Lions.

According to Adam Schefter, former Lions wide receiver Anquan Boldin is interested in returning to the NFL and the Buffalo Bills have granted his agent permission to shop his services around to other NFL teams.

Club grants you limited permission to speak with other NFL teams for the sole purpose of discussing a trade for Anquan. This letter of permission shall not be construed as a grant to allow the player to make visits, undergo a physical or tryout with other NFL teams at this time. In addition, player and/or his representative shall not be permitted to discuss a new contract for Anquan with another NFL team.”

Boldin, who is 37-years-old, signed with the Buffalo Bills prior to the start of the 2017 season but then decided to retire. Before that, he spent one season with the Lions, catching 67 passes for 584 yards and eight touchdowns.

Though he may be up there in age and has certainly lost a step or two since he came into the league in 2003, Boldin could be just what the doctor ordered for a Lions offense that is banged up at the wide receiver position.

On Thursday, Lions leading receiver Golden Tate was limited in practice and he looks to be a game-time decision, while rookie receiver Kenny Golladay did not practice at all and is in jeopardy of missing yet another week.
