On Sunday, the Detroit Lions held their first training camp practice and before it had ended they had lost tight end Eric Ebron to an apparent hamstring injury. The injury was enough to hold Ebron out of practice again on Monday.

Now another starter could miss time as safety Tavon Wilson left practice on Monday with what reportedly looked like a hand or shoulder injury. Following the injury, Wilson missed the remainder of the practice.

Not long after Wilson left the field, defensive end Cornelius Washington also went down, apparently with a leg injury.

Following practice, head coach Jim Caldwell did not give any further details on either of the injuries.

Wilson started 14 games at strong safety for the Lions in 2016 and he is the favorite to win the job this season, though second-year defensive back Miles Killebrew may have something to say about that before all is said and done. In 2016, during his first season with the Lions, Wilson had 89 tackles and intercepted two passes.

Washington is in his first season with the Lions after spending the previous four with the Chicago Bears. During his time in the Windy City, the former sixth round pick played in 31 games (2 starts), recording only three sacks in that time. Washington was signed by Detroit in the offseason to help provide some competition and depth at the defensive end position. If he wants to earn a starting gig, opposite Ezekiel Ansah, he will have to beat out Kerry Hyder, who had a breakout season in 2016, racking up eight sacks.
