Some extremely sad news for the Michigan State and Big Ten community today. Former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler was tragically killed in a car accident in Wisconsin on Saturday night. Also killed in the accident was Nebraska punter Sam Foltz. LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye was riding in the back seat and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The trio had been attending a kicking camp. Sadler was in the driver’s seat when police say wet roads and high speeds led to their car impacting a tree.
Sadler was one of the most popular Spartans, especially on social media. His interactions with fans and hilarious Twitter activity made him a fan favorite. The news of his passing is just heartbreaking. Sadler, a 4-year starter at MSU, was set to attend Stanford law school in the fall, the same school his Spartans beat in the Rose Bowl. He is the only 4-time academic All-American in Michigan State history.
