Heading into the 2017 offseason, it seemed like a consensus that defensive end was a position of need for the Detroit Lions. It’s a position many hoped Lions GM Bob Quinn would address early on in the NFL Draft but that did not happen.
Well, according to reports, that need just became a bit greater as DE Armonty Bryant has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL Policy & Program for Substances of Abuse.

Unfortunately, this is Bryant’s third suspension in the last year and it could very be time for the Lions to cut ties.

STATEMENT BY AN NFL SPOKESPERSON:
Armonty Bryant of the Detroit Lions has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Bryant will be eligible to return to the Lions’ active roster on Monday, October 2 following the team’s October 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Bryant is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games.
Bryant was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 7th Round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
In 2017, he had three sacks in five games for the Lions.
