Ever since Matthew Stafford was drafted first overall by the Detroit Lions, he has been a lightning rod not only in the Motor City but around the NFL.
Despite putting up some pretty hefty passing stats in his career, there have been plenty of people who have called him out for the Lions lack of success.

One of the most recent to take a shot at Stafford is former NFL quarterback, Rich Gannon. On Monday, Gannon shared his thoughts about the Lions’ signal-caller and to say he was harsh would be an understatement
Gannon said he is “sick and tired of talking about Matthew Stafford” and he claimed Stafford is one of the main reasons why the Lions are currently in last place in the NFC North.
From the Detroit Free Press:
“The guy is overpaid,” Gannon said. “He’s been one of the highest-paid quarterbacks over the last four or five years and he’s a stat king. He picks up a lot of yards and production in garbage time.”
On Thursday, Stafford spoke to the media and he was asked about Gannon’s comments. Not surprisingly, Stafford pretty much brushed it off.
“I don’t need to answer to Rich Gannon.”
