After suspensions were handed down from the Major League Baseball commissioner’s office following the brawl between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees back on August, players and coaches appealed their respective punishments in hopes of reducing.
The news came down on Saturday that the suspension hearings have been settled and some changes have been addressed.
Suspension settlements have been confirmed for Miguel Cabrera (6 gms), Alex Wilson (3 gms) and Brad Ausmus (1 gm). (1/2)

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera received the longest ban. Initially eight games, Cabrera will now sit out for six games. Reliever Alex Wilson, who admitted to plunking the Yankees’ Todd Frazier intentionally, has one game docked off his initial suspension.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was given a one-game suspension for Wilson hitting a batter after warnings were handed out. His ban still stands.

With the rosters expanding in September, the Tigers will have plenty of reinforcements for both Wilson and Cabrera next week. The team announced their first wave of call-ups on Friday, which included first baseman Efren Navarro, who played in Game 1 of the Tigers’ doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians.
Detroit will also have a plethora of pitching options out of the bullpen from here on out. Recently, they reinstated both Anibal Sanchez and Daniel Norris from the disabled list.They also announced two more roster additions following Friday night’s game.
There has been no word on the suspensions being settled on the Yankees’ side. Catcher Gary Sanchez, who was heavily scrutinized for his multiple cheap shot sucker punches thrown in the melee, was given a 4-game suspension.

Recently-acquired prospect Jeimer Candelario returns to the big league club after appearing in one game in August with the Tigers. Candelario started off slow with Triple-A Toledo after he was acquired in July from the Chicago Cubs in the Justin Wilson/Alex Avila trade, but finished with a .269 batting average and .727 OPS in 29 games with the Mud Hens.
Joining Candelario will be right-hander Myles Jaye. The 25-year-old Jaye has made 25 starts between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo, registering a 3.96 ERA. He was acquired from the Texas Rangers back in March of 2016, just before Opening Day, in a deal that sent catcher Bryan Holaday — who has since then returned to the Tigers organization — the other way.
The first time Jaye appears in a game down the stretch will be his major league debut. The Tigers continue their weekend series against the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
