Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has a Hall of Fame worthy resume that includes a World Series ring, MVP and Cy Award trophies, and three no-hitters.
But he's still winless in starts made in the World Series.
Home runs from Washington's Adam Eaton and Juan Soto in the 5th inning powered the Nationals to a win in Game 6 to tie the World Series up 3-3, meaning Verlander and the Astros will have to wait until tonight to celebrate winning their second championship in three years.
“I thought he ran out of gas at the end,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said.
Verlander is now 0-6 in games he's started in the Fall Classic with a 5.68 ERA. He's also given up nine career homers during those starts.
