The Detroit Pistons continue to be reworked according to the vision of GM Troy Weaver. Not long after selecting Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham with the 1st overall pick in last week’s NBA Draft, they’ve made their 1st big free-agent splash.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kelly Olynyk is headed to the Motor City on a three-year contract worth a reported $37 million.

The Canadian-born Olynyk played collegiately for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, where he earned NCAA All-American honours in 2013. He would later be selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2013 NBA Draft before being jettisoned to the Boston Celtics. He’s also played for the Miami Heat, and spent last season with the Houston Rockets.
In 543 career NBA games, he’s averaged 9.7 PPG and 5.0 RPG while shooting 47% from the field. Last season, he shot 39.2% from beyond the arc.
